Amount and payment of insurance compensation

The amount of insurance compensation is determined based on documents from competent authorities or a court decision. If by court decision the compensation amount exceeds the liability limit under the insurance contract, compensation is paid within the contract limit, and the remainder is paid by the policyholder.

If there is no doubt about the material circumstances of the insured event (the fact of the event and the damage caused, the causal link, the amount of damage, etc.), insurance compensation may be paid through an out-of-court settlement.

Within the limits of the insurance contract, compensation may be provided for expenses incurred to prevent and/or reduce losses, even if the measures taken were unsuccessful. Only financial losses are covered, not material damage. Damage to life, health or property is not covered.

What determines the cost of insurance?

The policy cost is calculated individually and depends on the type of activity, business size, chosen insured amount, coverage territory, number of employees, previous insurance claims, and the risk level of the specific activity.

Can professional liability be insured?

Yes. Professional liability insurance protects against client claims related to mistakes, negligence, or unintentional breaches while performing professional duties. Such a policy is especially relevant for lawyers, notaries, auditors, accountants, architects, engineers, consultants, medical professionals, and IT specialists.

Is liability insurance mandatory?

In most cases, liability insurance is voluntary. However, for certain professions, participation in tenders, international contracts, or licensed activities, a policy may be a mandatory legal or client requirement. Even when insurance is not mandatory, it helps protect the business from significant financial losses in case of third-party claims.
